As a proud member of the Yorkshire Learning Trust, we adopt some Trust-wide policies. These are available to find here:
Our policies provide a clear framework for how we operate, to ensure consistency, transparency, and accountability in everything we do.
Below you can find the statutory policies required by law, as well as additional policies that reflect our values and approach to supporting our children and young people, staff, and the wider community. Each document is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure it remains compliant with current legislation and best practice. By setting out clear expectations, our policies help to create safe, inclusive and supportive environments where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Statutory governance documents can be found on our Statutory and Company Documentation page, and school policies or addendums can be found on the policy pages of our school websites.
Merger
On 1st September 2025, South York MAT and STAR MAT merged to create YLT (Yorkshire Learning Trust). As a newly merged Trust, we are committed to providing a stable and clear policy framework. To ensure continuity and maintain operational effectiveness during this transitional period, in some instances we are operating under a combination of existing policies carried forward from our previous organisations. These policies remain in effect until they are formally reviewed and adopted by YLT. We are working diligently to harmonise our practices and will be confirming a new set of unified Trust policies over the coming months. We appreciate your patience and will publish all updates regarding new and ratified policies promptly.
YLT policies apply to all schools in our Trust. STAR MAT policies apply to the following schools: Appleton Roebuck Primary, Brayton CE Primary, Kellington Primary, Kirk Fenton CE Primary, Monk Fryston CE Primary, Riverside Primary, Saxton CE Primary, Sherburn High, Sherburn Hungate Primary, South Milford Primary, and Tadcaster Grammar. SYMAT policies appky to the following schools: Archbishop of York’s CE Junior, Bishopthorpe Infant, Dunnington CE Primary, Escrick CE Primary, Fulford, and Wheldrake with Thorganby CE Primary.
Some of our policies are specific to Riverside School:
