READING
Reading books
It has been lovely to see how the children have arrived back in school happy and ready to learn. Due to the current circumstances, the reading pattern will be slightly different this term. The children will bring home a library book each Monday to share, enjoy and read together. This book is to encourage their love of reading and for yourselves to read, discuss and talk about the pictures. Please return the library books on Wednesday morning so that these can be re-distributed into our library system.
Throughout the week your children will read phonics phased books in school with teaching staff which will be individually matched to their reading ability. Each Friday your child will bring home a book to read over the weekend, again matched to their reading ability. This book will encourage a deeper breadth of reading and understanding. We encourage parents to discuss the story, ask questions and make predictions around the events in the story. Please return this book on a Monday morning.
This will enable the children the children to enjoy a variety of books throughout the week. We hope that you enjoy the books together and have fun.
Key Stage 1 team
P.S. Please return any reading books you may still have at home to go back into our library system. Thank you.
